Blood Red Sky

My heart is broken but too numb to cry
Alone I walk these lonely miles beneath the blood red sky
My soul is like a sinner too afraid to die
In faithless prayers walking on beneath the blood red sky

When I was younger my joy and dreams survived
How I used to smile in perfect peace beneath the blood red sky
But peace is like a flower that’s faded over time
Something once bright has withered and died beneath the blood red sky

Though my soul is tired and weak and my dreams have bid goodbye
Through the storm and trial I will carry on beneath the blood red sky

I saw the beauty within a child’s eyes
Such hope and safety lay within beneath the blood red sky
But now my hope is like a candle that no longer shines
A shape melted unbeautiful beneath the blood red sky

In my days of youthful splendor when my faith and dreams were high
How I painted bright the world of gray beneath the blood red sky
But youth is like a river that’s been dammed up, blocked and dried
Contained, once strong, now powerless beneath the blood red sky
