Chained

A man held up in prison looks down at his shackled wrists and cries
I’m chained, I’m chained
Wishing he’d be forgiven from the life of crime he’s lead, he softly sighs
I’m chained, I’m chained
Bound in chains of iron, he’s held for life within his misery
I’m chained, I’m chained
His only desire is to leave the past behind him and run free
I’m chained, I’m chained

Every moment these chains are holding me down
Holding me down, down
The weight of this burden is pulling, pulling, pulling me down,
Down, down to the ground

A man with mixed emotion stands atop the bridge and whispers low
I’m chained, I’m chained
Staring down at the ocean, he feels he’s lost and don’t know where to go
I’m chained, I’m chained

Out somewhere in the nation there’s someone out there crying out like me
I’m chained, I’m chained
Consumed by desperation or a helpless situation and can’t break free
I’m chained, I’m chained
To the ones trapped in confusion or in need of absolution you can be redeemed
From your chains, unchained
If you’re lost and need a savior or are living on a prayer in hopeless need
You can be free you can be freed
