When Words Speak Only Lies

Everybody says that they want to be a hero but nobody wants to be used when it’s time
Why do we always talk far bigger than we’re willing to live our lives?
Every heart says that it longs for devotion but won’t stay committed when love gives the chance
Oh, another sunny day romance
So the wheels turn round and it’s the same sad story everybody keeps fighting for the fame and the glory
But nobody’s willing to stand up and really deserves it
I guess love would stand a better chance if it never rained and we’d all be content if we never knew pain
But there’s a baggage car attached to every train we board from the day that we’re born

Dragging our hearts through the dirt and our minds through the gutter
We hide behind windows and draw back the shutters
Hoping no one can see all the things that we really are doing
So with pencil and paper we construct our fake smiles
And we cover our faces and live masked in denial
So we always look beautiful and no one believes that we’re ruined

Why, oh why, do our words speak only lies?
So no one knows when we live or if we have died

Everyone pretends that their body’s a temple when it’s dirty as a bar on the far side of town
Where the lonely and forgotten drink away all the memories they know they can never live down
When the flashbulbs burst and we cover our faces with makeup to cover the scars
The lights will reveal what we left unconcealed; pretty liars are all that we are

I guess love would stand a better chance if it never rained and we’d find contentment if we never knew pain
But there’s a baggage car attached to every train we board from the day that we’re born
With award winning style we construct our fake smiles and we paint on our faces and live in denial
Until the waves of emotion reach out from the ocean and expose that we’re tattered and torn
